It Will Be Alright is a work based on the artist’s struggle with overthinking and being overwhelmed. In order to nurture a better sense of clarity to handle her thoughts and decisions, the artist uses sewing as a medium to allow herself to meditate and find comfort amidst the chaos.

The artist created a vessel by hand-sewing her hair through clay, leaving an unorganized exterior that reflects the stress of the physical body. An encased ball of hair expresses the artist’s repeated loops of tangled thoughts. In contrast, the interior of the vessel is orderly arranged, reflecting a mental space to meditate. As the ball floats on water, it prompts the artist to contemplate, to let go and trust the process instead.

The sculpture takes the form of a coconut. Since coconuts share a close resemblance to a human head, it is an essential offering used in rituals and ceremonies in Indian culture. A coconut is symbolic of one’s ego, inner reflection and the cleansing of one’s self.
